Lost in the Woods formed out of clouds of cosmic dust in late 2003, in a small flat near Bondi Beach, NSW. Initially the band devoted its energies to a series of radio plays, but eventually the idea of an album of songs appealed. The recording of Down with the Sun continued in Punchbowl and Erskineville, and it was launched (not unlike an archaic Russian space probe) on April 1st, 2006 at the Empire Hotel, Annandale. The band continue to write and record, slowly forming a rocky core, and eventually, they hope, a life-supporting atmosphere. In late 2006 they began gigging regularly around Sydney.
Brian Yatman (singing, guitar, keyboards) grew up in Punchbowl. His earliest musical influences were pop radio and Baptist hymns. A member of the Cloud Appreciation Society, he enjoys swimming, National Geographic magazine and Green River tobacco, and is married to Kate. Brian writes the songs, sings, and plays a range of instruments. Other bands he has contributed to include Tripitaka, The Spring Lizards, Cities of Foam, and Grand Lodge.
Greg Clark (drums) grew up on the Northern Beaches, and has played for bands such as The Leftovers and
Wipe ( ). He joined Lost in the Woods in March 2006.
Mhark Cohen (bass) was born in Newcastle.
He spent his childhood in Murwillumbah, lived as a teenager on the Gold Coast and moved to Brisbane at age 18. He picked up the bass when he was 12 (it was a toss-up between music & getting a go-cart), and started gigging around Gold Coast/Brisbane at age 14. Old bands worth noting: Sourdrop, Dilbt & Blackout Orchestra. He also plays guitar, keyboard & V8 Supercars 3 on PS2. He joined in July 2006. Mhark recently became one of the The Revolutionary Kind.

Molly Florance hails from Maine, USA. She plays violin. Molly's earliest musical influence was her older sister yelling at her to stop. Inspired to practice louder music for longer periods of time, she went on to play french horn, trumpet & flugel horn for many years. She later picked up Celtic music in Texas, as one does. Molly has played in a few places (for even fewer people) including a brief but glorious performance on the Great Wall of China.
Sharif Hansa was born in Tripoli, Lebanon and first met Brian in maths class at Punchbowl Boys High, where they bonded over a shared love of rock music. He plays drums on a couple of tracks and provides invaluable technical support. Sharif was also a founder member of electronic music collective Clan Analogue.
Gordon Wallace and Hannah Croke guest on mandolin and cello respectively. They perform and record as Myriad.
Greg Rich, another Punchbowl native, does the artwork. He now lives in the Blue Mountains, where he writes, paints and builds bicycles.
