>>> NEWS - 2008 - 2007- 2006 <<<

2010

>July 20 - The band has a new drummer. We'd like to say thanks to Greg Clark for his sterling work over the last few years, and welcome to Dave Wilcox. We're busy rehearsing and getting ready to play some shows.

>April 9 - Sacha Molitorisz reviewed the new album in the Sydney Morning Herald: "Bring on the Flood, the opening track of this whimsical album about the birds and the bees, begins with whistling. Then come piano twinklings, shuffled drums and the moody twang of pedal steel. Birdsong Almanac, the second album from Sydney's Lost in the Woods, is full of subtle, ambitious arrangements. Fortunately, the songwriting deserves such lush treatment." Read the full review here.

>March 20 - John Carver played Me Oh My and Birdcatcher on his Across the Tracks program on PBS 106.7FM in Melbourne.

>March 9 - We're being played on FBi Radio 94.5FM in Sydney and 4ZZZ Bisbane 102.1FM.

>February 26 - Dan MacDonald played some Lost in the Woods tracks on 939FM The River, broadcasting from Cobo Arena, in Detroit Michigan. He had this to say: "...it really calls to mind that San Francisco, Mamas and Papas vibe of the ‘60s…beautiful and summery…this record immediately put me in a fantastic mood."

>February 12 -Birdsong Almanac is an Edge Radio 99.3 fm recommended album. We were interviewed by Vanessa Armstrong on her program, The Bureau Of Music.

2009

> November 14 - 2ser have been playing some of our new tracks on their Breakfast and Overdrive shows. Andrew Khedoori had this to say: "At first you might have this pegged as 70s golden-era pop - ornate and gorgeous with the widescreen vibes of Mercury Rev's earthier side circa Deserter's Songs - but get set for other sounds to unwind and envelop you. As ambitious as it all is, it has a lovely understated and merry way to make for the kind of album that'll slyly capture you before you know it. "

> October 25 - Birdsong Almanac is available to order online.

> October 19 - Kate Kachor of Eleven magazine posted a review of the album launch.

> October 18 - ALBUM LAUNCH - The Red Rattler Theatre, Marrickville
We launched Birdsong Almanac in the luxurious surrounds of the Red Rattler. A great room (filled with ornate velvet couches that lend an air of fin de siècle decadence), run by lovely people who treat the performers with, you know, respect and stuff. We played 2 sets to a big crowd, ably assisted by Anton Schroeder on French horn, Antonio on sound, and, of course Graham Griffith on pedal steel guitar.

Birdsong Almanac> May 19 - We had the album mastered by Reece Tunbridge at Benchmark Studios (thanks Kevin Rudd). You can hear four of the new songs (Paper Bird, Whippoorwill Time, Birdcatcher and Lit Up Like the Summertime) at our Myspace page.

> May 10 - Julianna Swaney ( www.ohmycavalier.com ) is working on artwork for the new album.

> April 2008- April 2009- Was spent recording and mixing our follow-up to Down With the Sun in the palatial surrounds of Ginsberg Studios, with Damian Press and Ant Whitehouse at the controls. Birdsong Almanac is a tight and tuneful collection of songs about love, beekeeping and native birds. On these recordings we have expanded our sonic pallette to include pedal steel guitar, trumpet, French horn and viola.
